Am I Doing Enough?

Am I Doing Enough?

You cannot do enough to guarantee the outcome you want.
The future is in God’s hands, not yours, and all will be well.

Well, indeed.
But not on your timetable
or in the way you prefer
and not necessarily without pain.

Rejoice if you can, but only at risk of denying the magnitude of what is at stake.
Mistaking serenity for hiding.
Understanding for complicity.
Acceptance for the normalization of evil.

Better to wrestle with God and yourself.
Am I Doing Enough?–a good place to start.
As ineffective,
Messy
And Uncomfortable as it may be.

Radical faith does not stop you from right action,
But ensures that when you do act,
You will not have muddied your connection to God
With impatience,
Self-abnegation
Or the exhausting struggle to wrest control.

Sober, loving, honest, imperfect.
In pain (or not)
You become an instrument of God.

This still won’t be enough.
But it is everything.
