Together, we will face, confront and transcend the stereotypes of aging to initiate a new level of freedom not dependent on the affirmation of others. Aging can be challenging, but tapping inner resources can help us thrive even in the face of adversity. Fortunately, resilience is a quality that can be learned. This program shows us how to identify, face and transcend stereotypes of aging that have outlived their relevance to achieve clarity, resourcefulness and empowerment.

Conscious Aging:
Finding God in the Shadows and Joys of Aging
Can we find spiritual meaning in loss, marginalization, diminishment and suffering? Carol Orsborn calls upon saints, mystics and wise elders past and present to teach that spirituality is not just a tool that helps us rise to the challenges of aging. Rather, aging is meant to be the very vehicle for the fulfillment of our spiritual potential. Admittedly, establishing and maintaining both a hopeful and realistic vision of the aging process requires a level of spiritual maturity that is a challenge to the best of us. But it is also the stripping away of illusion and a thinning of the veil between our ordinary lives and the sacred. This is the essence of mature spirituality: the promise of not only growing old, but growing whole.

Planning for the Best Possible Future
“Coming into age” bears with it both blessings and challenges. In this program, we have the opportunity to take a deeper look at the choices we’ve made in the past as well as our aspirations for the future. Drawing on spiritual teachings, exercises, guided meditation and dialogue, we will explore how we can transcend the stereotypes of aging as well as our own limitations in order to ground ourselves in that which is enduring and unshakable. We have the opportunity to apply our new insights to make plans that are equally grounded in hope and practicality.
