I’m pleased to announce the winners of the Name the Birthday Brain Game Challenge!
As a reminder, when I turned 70, I started naming my birthdays with a year-long theme. Now I’ve merged mine with yours. (List below.) But without further ado, the moment you’ve been waiting for…and massive thanks to the grand winner Shana Ross for planting the seed of inspiration with her reference to the Music Man’s 76 trombones that led the big parade:
My birthday theme for the coming year:
76: Trombones in the Mix.
I’m delighted to use this as my birthday year theme as it reminds me that acceptance of whatever the year may bring also includes the fact that big, exciting, wonderful things happen, too—often when we least expect them. As promised, you and all the winners share the prize: my deepest respect and admiration for this and years to come!
As it happens, this birthday’s theme echoes my favorite motto: “You can’t always stop the bad things from happening. But you can’t stop the good things from happening, either!” In fact, I just gave my first Facebook Live talk on this very subject on my The Making of An Old Soul page, which you can view here:
https://www.facebook.com/FierceWithAge. Scroll down to the screen shot of me in a colorful sweater and hat. BTW, I’ll be doing a weekly live Q&A with the Author there so if you haven’t already subscribed, now’s the time! And now for the final, the ultimate and often profoundly silly:
Name the Birthday for Every Year 70-80+
The updated themes from 70 to 80 and beyond, responses and on occasion, my commentary.
I’m…
70: There’s still time Chere Weiss
71: Ready for fun.
72: Hooty hoo.
73: Can I hear whee?
74: I want more.
75: Going on 76. (Which, when you think about it constitutes a profound act of faith.) Mike Misken
76: Trombones in the mix. Shana Ross
77: Double the luck.
78: A plentiful plate.
79: In my prime.
80: Finally all grown up…or it’s probably not gonna happen.
81-84: The age of inspiration or faith or wisdom—or you pick whichever word calls to you.
Submitted by anonymous whose name doesn’t appear here only because technology swallowed it. Email me at Corsborn@aol.com and I’ll credit you on The Making of an Old Soul FB page.
85: And Glad to be alive. Allan Mandell
86 plus: If you haven’t already, you’ve earned the right to “just break the mold every year, sit still & observe.” Marvene Bauman
Thanks also go to all of you who liked, commented and otherwise participated in this fun diversion including Cassina (yes especially taking into consideration your memories of past lives, you qualify as an old soul), Debra, Dan, Pat, Susan, Naomi, Carol, Marika, Miller, Shannon, Hayden, Sam and Austin. It feels great to get the occasional reminder that I’m not in this alone!

Gathering of Old Souls: 5 Spaces Left
Thrilled with the successful launch of our online bi-monthly women’s discussion group! What a great group and conversation! There are a few spots left for the remainder of the year.
You are invited to join me and a circle of your peers to talk about what matters most at our age and stage in life. The on-going circle, hosted by Spirit of Sophia, will meet every other month for five months. Our next meeting is Tuesday, March 12. Group size is limited as we form an on-line tribe of like-minded peers.
Each meeting of the Circle will have a suggested theme and optional readings from my books but we will go wherever the spirit takes us as we explore what matters most to us at our age and stage in life. Meetings will include group discussions, stimulating questions and smaller breakout groups as we deepen the conversation about the many aspects of conscious aging.
The circle meets on the second Tuesday of the month from 12:00 noon to 1:30 PM (EST)
